- The Finnish sauna at Cantervilla Castle is a relaxing and anti-stress therapeutic tool and an effective remedy for many health problems. The main influencing factors are the air temperature and humidity in the sauna, the length of time spent in the sauna, and the efficiency of air exchange. Aromatherapy oils help to cleanse the body, have an anti-stress effect and help with specific problems. Every time you go to the heat room should be followed by cooling down in cold water or fresh air. That's why the water in our pool is a bit cooler (16-18°C).
- In the infrared sauna at Cantervilla Castle, sweating can be up to three times more intense than in a regular sauna, provided that you have drunk at least half a litre of water immediately before the sauna. After the session, the body should be washed with warm water, avoiding any cooling down procedures, as the infrared sauna heats the muscles more intensively than other types of sauna. After the session, up to 30 minutes are needed for the body temperature to return to normal.
- On the shore of Lake Pikajärve there is a raft sauna, where you can take part in authentic Estonian sauna traditions. In fact, a proper visit to the sauna always includes whisking and a dip into cold-water (an ice hole in winter). Whisking stimulates the skin, superficial tissues, blood and lymphatic circulation and the nervous system, and different whisks have different effects: juniper whisks, birch whisks, eucalyptus whisks etc.
